We love our Parent Volunteers!

There are many ways to get involved at Kimberley Public School, and we are very grateful for the time, energy and enthusiasm that our Parent Volunteers give as active members of our community. To help us stay organized, volunteers are asked to submit a simple Volunteer Application. For the safety of your children, all volunteers who work within the school, or directly with our students need an official Toronto Police Check.
Volunteer Opportunities
Some of our Parent Volunteer opportunities are listed below – if you can help us, please contact Kimberley School Council at kimberleyjpscouncil@gmail.com, or your child’s classroom teacher.
School Council – Kimberley School Council is a parent-run organization that provides support for your children’s education through communication, community building initiatives, and fundraising events.
School Council meets on a monthly basis at the school and all parents and guardians in the Kimberley community are encouraged and welcome to attend. As mandated under the Education Act, the Council is comprised of the Principal, Representatives from the parents, teachers, and non-teaching staff and community, and child care Reps. A majority of the positions on the Council must be held by parents and elections for the Executive positions are held each Fall.
The School Council informs parents of school issues, raises money to support school programs, organizes informative general meetings, and implements many programs and activities that benefit the children.  Parent involvement at Kimberley is most welcome.  In addition to involvement on the Executive of Council, there are numerous volunteer opportunities to suit any degree of interest and availability. If you would like to volunteer, please contact the Member on Council responsible for the area that interests you, or contact this year’s Parent Council Chair.

Snack Program – Kimberley has a phenomenal snack program in which students and staff are offered fresh fruit and vegetables at morning recess three times a week. Providing a healthy snack is vital to children’s overall health and is linked to success in the classroom. We are always in need of volunteers.

Classroom Volunteers – All teachers have different needs and requirements, so if you are interested in volunteering in the classroom please speak to your child’s teacher directly.

Chaperones for Field Trips – Provide support to your child’s teacher, and supervision of  students during field trips.

Art/Music Set-up – Support Art and Music activities throughout the year, such as the Winter and Spring concerts and Grade 6 Graduation; assist with set-up, tear-down and transportation of required materials.
Fundraising Organizers – Join a fun group of enthusiastic parents as they prepare for events such as Movie Nights, Scholastic Book Sales, Bake Sales, Pizza Lunches, Valentines Dance-a-thon, Silent Auction and Family Fun Night. Fundraising volunteers collect donations, promote the events within and outside the school, recruit sponsors, and join in the fun as you support our school’s fund development goals.
We recognize that everyone is really busy, and your time is precious. Please rest assured that we have positions that will match your time commitment.
By signing up to our volunteer email list,  you will receive updates to upcoming events and enable us to contact you whenever volunteers are needed.
